Harran University, Istanbul University and universities and non-governmental organizations in Portugal, Poland and Norway held a conference in Istanbul for the “Drug Abuse Prevention for Youth” (DAPY) Information Meeting.
Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine Dr. Inst. Member Yaşar Tanır made a presentation titled “The Effects of Marijuana and Alcohol on the Human Brain and Behaviors”. Tanir in the presentation;
“Although this cannabis seems to have been introduced as such a pure substance, with low side effects, little effect, and such a soft substance, it can actually cause very significant side effects regarding the amount and duration of use. It can even act as a bridge and pose a great risk in terms of its transition to other substances. It can be marijuana, it can be other psychoactive substances, it can be hallucinogens, it can actually lead to situations that lead to death or cause more mental cognitive destruction with the use of cannabis.” said.
